Nigeria’s covid 19 infections have continued to surge, amid fears of rising cases of the deadly delta variant.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on its official website said 566 positive sample of covid 19 were recorded, raising the country’s infection tally to 176,577.
The new infections were reported from 11 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
Lagos, the hardest-hit state by the pandemic, logged 283 cases, followed by Akwa Ibom and Oyo states with 88 and 62 cases respectively.
Other states with fresh infections are Rivers (62), FCT (18), Ogun (17), Ekiti (12), Kwara (11), Plateau (6), Zamfara (3), Kaduna (2) and Katsina (2).
Meanwhile, 11 persons died as a result of COVID complications, raising the fatality tally to 2,178 deaths.
